How old does my child have to be for music lessons?
The beginning ages of students vary depending on the instrument and individual development. Part of the trial lesson for younger students is an assessment of their readiness by the teacher. Our general recommendations are as follows:
Instrument | Starting Age |
Piano | 4 years |
Violin | 4 years |
Viola | 4 years |
Cello | 5 years |
Guitar | 6 years |
Clarinet, Flute, Saxophone | 8 years |
Trumpet, French Horn, Trombone | 8 years |
Voice | 10 years |
